Riverdale Downs Ravenwood in Girls State Tournament

Riverdale jumped out to a 28-8 lead in the first quarter and didn't look back enroute to a 77-50 win over Ravenwood in the first round of the TSSAA Class AAA Blue Cross Basketball State Championships:



Jon Dinkins with the call on State Farm Prep Sports as Riverdale's Brinae Alexander hit a first quarter three on her way to 22 points for the game.

Riverdale forced 23 Lady Raptor turnovers in the game and Coach Randy Coffman says it's his team's defense that gets them going offensively:



Coffman says while the two-time defending state champion is always the hunted, his team works each practice and game to get better:



In addition to Alexander's 22 points, junior Aislynn Hayes had 15 and sophomore Alasia Hayes wound up with 13.

Riverdale will play Bearden on Friday morning at 10am for a chance at another state championship. Bryan Barrett and Jon Dinkins will have the game here on NewsRadio WGNS with a 9:45am pregame on State Farm Prep Sports.
