The big news at the December 12th meeting of the Rutherford County Commission was District 9 Commissioner Steve Sandlin’s announcement that he will be stepping down in August after 24 years on the commission to pursue the office of the Register of Deeds. In his announcement, Sandlin expressed both gratitude, as well as the hopes that his vacancy will encourage others in the district to fill his shoes.
Among other agenda items for the night, the USDA extended their lease at the Lane Agri-Park, a resolution was approved for continued countywide ambulance service, and the Rutherford County drainage easement and road book was approved, as well as the 2014-2015 budget calendar. Three of the seven committees issued no report.
