Stewarts Creek High School didn't take long to hire their next boys basketball coach. Principal Dr. Clark Harrell tapped Dawn Barger as the school's next coach.

She's coached girls and boys basketball for the past 14-years. As head boys basketball coach at Lake County, she led the program to the Class Single-A state tournament each year, including a state championship in 2011.

Most recently, Barger has been an assistant girls coach at Stewarts Creek and Blackman with Jessica Jackson.

Before coaching, she played college basketball at Berry College in Rome, Georgia.

Dr. Harrell tells NewsRadio WGNS "I am excited that Coach Barger, who is highly regarded as a coach and educator throughout Rutherford County and the state, will lead our boys basketball program."

Girls basketball coach Lindy King says "Coach Barger is an excellent leader and real specialist in game fundamentals and strategy. She is passionate about developing a high-quality team on the court while cultivating a strong work ethic and character for a lifetime off the court."

Barger says "I would like to thank Dr. Clark Harrell for providing me the opportunity to build a program for which the school and community can be proud."
