Evening storms caused a power outage in Cannon County and results were severely delayed. And that effected the 16th Judicial Races for Circuit Court Judge.

All of the sitting judges won the races. Mark Rogers received 15,911 votes to Jeff Peach's 13,162 for Division I here. Rogers won the Cannon County vote by 1,654 (2,544 to 890).

David Bragg received 15,557 votes to Nathan Nichols 12,755 for Division II in Rutherford County. Nichols won in Cannon County by 456 votes, but it wasn't enough to change the outcome in the district (1,906 to 1,450).

Keith Siskin, Division III and Royce Taylor, Division IV, both ran unopposed. As did Howard Wilson, who will be the district's chancellor.

By the way, Jennings Jones was unopposed for District Attorney General for the district and Gerald Melton in the public defenders race. Melton says it was a much easier election night for him...

Jones will take over as D-A for Bill Whitesell, who decided not to seek re-election...

Jones has been an assistant D-A for that amount of time. Whitesell has been the district attorney general since 1995.
