Rutherford County Election Administrator Nicole Lester talks with WGNS' Bryan Barrett

Murfreesboro voters turned out in greater number this year to elect a new mayor and to fill three seats on the council and school board. Rutherford County Election Administrator Nicole Lester says 7,927 people voted this year...

So approximately 13-hundred more voted this time around, but turnout was still only just over 11-percent of registered voters in Murfreesboro. Just over 61% voted early or 4,839 while 3,088 voted on election day.

Some Murfreesboro voters went to the polls in a different location. Lester says because some of the polling locations were outside of the city limits, voters in those areas went somewhere else today...

This change only applied to this past Murfreesboro city election and not the upcoming county primary on May 6th.
