Another great Friday Night Live (7/5/2013) presented by Main Street Murfreesboro/Rutherford County and downtown merchants. The widely scattered sprinkles did not deter the crowd, in fact--the cooler than normal temps in the low 70s, may have increased the turnout.
The Skyline Drive Band kept the historic square echoing with great music. In fact, it was very obvious that the music was attracting a much larger than average number of dancers (above photo).
Welcome
The Main Street's Executive Director Kathleen Herzog (left photo) came on stage and welcomed everyone to the Murfreesboro square. She told about the popular Main Street Marketplace that is a happening every summer Saturday from 8:00AM to noon. This has become a social event with friends meeting each week to talk and get farm fresh produce along with home baked items, local honey, and so much more.
Herzog shared the unique shopping opportunities available at the locally owned retailers around the historic district.
Many of the retail establishments were open throughout the evening, which created a relaxed atmosphere for strolling the square, shopping, listening to music and renewing friendships.
Main Street has scheduled the free concerts on August 2nd and September 6th. Circle those dates, bring your lawn chair and join your friends.
In addition, the group is also conducting a fund raiser on September 17th with the popular Evening On Main Street.
