La VERGNE, TN (WGNS) - Early on the 4th of July, a vehicle pursuit that began in La Vergne made its way into Metro Nashville before coming to a quiet conclusion. According to the La Vergne Police Department, the fleeing vehicle became disabled, allowing officers to safely take the occupants into custody. No injuries and no additional incidents were reported.
As the pursuit was unfolding, residents in the Lake Forest area experienced a power outage. Social media lit up with theories suggesting the chase caused the outage. The two events were unrelated.
The power outage in the Lake Forest area was caused by a different vehicle crashing into and damaging a power pole in that subdivision. Nashville Electric Service (NES) crews temporarily cut power to approximately 900 homes in the area to safely facilitate repairs and clear the damage
Officials with the La Vergne Police Department noted that in fast-moving situations, it’s easy for assumptions to spread, and officials say they want residents to have facts instead of chatter.
Police encourage the public to rely on official sources rather than “fake news”. Staying informed is a team effort, and the department thanked residents for helping keep the conversation grounded in truth.
