MURFREESBORO, TN (WGNS) - If you’ve lived in Rutherford County for any length of time, you already know the Marable Twins. Their music, their ministry, and their unmistakable bond have been part of this community’s heartbeat for decades. But this past Friday evening (7/17/2026), during a benefit concert for Curtis Coleman at Olive Branch Church on Minerva Dr., that familiar harmony was interrupted by a frightening medical emergency.

Jerry Marable told WGNS that just before taking the stage, his twin brother, Kerry, received a loud alert from his Dexcom Continuous Glucose Monitoring system. The device, which tracks blood sugar levels around the clock, signaled that Kerry’s glucose had spiked to 269. Even so, with the heart of a showman who believes “the show must go on,” Kerry stepped up as lead singer.

Jerry said it didn’t take long to see something was wrong. Kerry grew fatigued, pressing forward until he suddenly became unresponsive and collapsed onto a speaker. His wife, Erika, rushed toward the stage calling his name. When he didn’t respond, she shouted, “Please call 911 now!” A nurse in the audience, several men, and their daughter Kaliah—also a nurse—moved quickly to help while everyone waited for EMS.

Erika knelt beside her husband, praying in his ear, trusting God even as fear tried to take hold. She later shared that not knowing what was happening was one of the most terrifying moments of her life.

Jerry, who has shared life with Kerry since the womb, said seeing his twin lying unresponsive is something he’ll never forget. But he also knew he had to stay calm—supporting his family, encouraging the crowd, and trusting God while medical professionals did their work.

The family expressed deep gratitude for the rapid response of EMS, Pastor Dr. Vincent L. Windrow and Olive Branch Church, the medical personnel who stepped in, and the many prayers, calls, and messages that poured in. Kerry is now home resting and will follow up with his physicians this coming week.

Jerry added that while the experience was frightening, he hopes it encourages others to take self‑care seriously—know your medical history, pay attention to warning signs, and stay informed about the devices and treatments you rely on. “Life is a precious gift from God,” he said, “and being proactive about your health can make a life‑saving difference.”
