MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - Hundreds of local residents gathered on Sunday afternoon to celebrate the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for Poplar Hill Middle School.
The $59.9 million, 169,000-square-foot building officially becomes the 53rd campus in the Rutherford County Schools system. Located at 3695 Blackman Road in Murfreesboro, the state-of-the-art facility will serve approximately 850 students in grades 6 through 8 to help support continued population growth in the Blackman community.
Community members attended the formal ceremony and dedication at 2 p.m. before taking tours of the new facility.
Home of the Bobcats, Poplar Hill Middle is led by Principal April Sneed.
Rutherford County Schools officially begins the 2026-2027 school year on Friday, Aug. 7, with a two-hour orientation day. The first full day of classes for students is set for Monday, Aug. 10.
