LEBANON, TN (WGNS) - The Tennessee State Fair is gearing up for its fifth year in Lebanon, and 2026 is shaping up to be its most ambitious celebration yet. With the theme “Tennessee Voices and Volunteers Celebrating America 250!”, the Wilson County – Tennessee State Fair is rolling out ten full days of entertainment, agriculture, and statewide pride opening this coming Thursday evening at 6:00PM (August 13–22, 2026) at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center in neighboring Lebanon.
Rutherford County will once again be part of the action—just as it has been since the fair moved from Nashville in 2021. That move wasn’t about nostalgia; it was about space, infrastructure, and long‑term growth. Nashville’s Fairgrounds had become too tight for the carnival, livestock barns, and parking. Meanwhile, Wilson County’s fair already drew more than 500,000 visitors and had the volunteer base to support a true statewide event. When the Tennessee General Assembly approved the merger, the fair found a home with room to grow.
State Fair Bigger Than Ever
This year’s fair will feature more than 150 livestock shows, 16 stages of entertainment, over 60 midway rides, and more than 100 concessions. Fairgoers can stroll down Freedom Way, a new patriotic attraction celebrating America’s past, present, and future—including the Freedom Truck. Opening Night on August 13 includes a 6 p.m. kickoff at the Made in Tennessee Building, followed by the parade at 7 p.m. With special pricing and Dollar Ride Night, it’s one of the most popular evenings of the entire fair.
Rutherford County Involved
Rutherford County’s presence fits right into the statewide mission. Local producers, 4‑H and FFA youth, and the UT‑TSU Extension Service regularly send exhibits, livestock entries, demonstrations, and educational programming. That involvement has remained steady—and may even be inching upward—as the county’s agricultural engagement grows through its Farmers Market and Extension programs.
Fair organizers have emphasized broad statewide participation, and Rutherford County continues to answer the call. Whether it’s livestock competitions, crop exhibits, or youth projects, the county’s contributions help keep the fair truly statewide. With concerts from Linda Davis and RaeLynn, new Saturday armband matinees, and a full slate of competitions open to all Tennesseans, the 2026 fair promises more than anyone can see in a single visit.
