Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Make Second Water Rescue In 24-Hours At Manson Pike Dam

Jul 08, 2013 at 07:19 pm by Bryan Barrett

Around 6:00 o'clock Monday night, Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue rushed to the Manson Pike Dam near Searcy Street for a water rescue.

According to Public Information Officer Ashley McDonald, a young male had been swimming and became trapped in rushing water. When crews arrived, he was standing to the side of the dam. District 7 and Engine 4 responded to the site. This was the same location where two young males had to be rescued by boat just 24-hours earlier.

Two crew members were able to wade out into the water, provide the victim with a personal floatation device, and lead him safely to the riverside.

Shift Commander Daryl Alexander reminds the public, “It is important to use proper judgment when water levels are high. Rising waters are very dangerous and not favorable for swimming or other recreational activities. The three victims from this week’s water rescues have been very fortunate. Outcomes could have been much worse.

No injuries were reported with this incident.
