EAST TENNESSEE – 180 Miles East of Murfreesboro in Knox County, Tennessee, an investigation by special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the indictment of a former Knoxville police officer.

In June, at the request of 6th Judicial District Attorney General Charme Allen, TBI agents began investigating allegations involving Shigeki Nagamoto, who was employed by the Knoxville Police Department at the time. During the investigation, agents gathered evidence indicating that in December 2024, while at the scene of a reported death, 38-year-old Nagamoto “...exposed and inappropriately touched part of a deceased woman’s body,” according to the TBI.

A media release from the TBI shows that a Knox County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Nagamoto with one count of Abuse of a Corpse. On Wednesday evening, he turned himself in and was booked into the Knox County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
