RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WGNS News) – One area resident has recently pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and reckless aggravated assault charges stemming from a horrific October 2024 crash on Couchville Pike. The incident took the life of a two-year-old boy and left his father partially paralyzed (Photo above article is 2-year-old Jeremiah White, the child who was killed in the incident that occurred in October 2024).

Looking back to what lead to the plea, it all began when 63-year-old Christopher B. Holloway got behind the wheel of a lumber truck to move it from Mt. Juliet and into Rutherford County... That was Rutherford County District Attorney General, Jennings Jones.

Driving in the opposite direction on the same roadway were parents of a small child, who decided to take a leisurely drive in an attempt to get their child to fall asleep... In the back seat of the family’s car was two-year-old Jeremiah White, restrained in a forward-facing child safety seat.

The family was heading eastbound at 35 miles per hour... During the drive, the arm of the rig swung into oncoming traffic... What followed the tragic incident were a series of statements and actions that would later help prosecutors in court, but at the time, did nothing to save the life of the small child ridding in the back seat of the family's car... Christopher Holloway who was driving the truck, was not injured in the collision.

Today, the district attorney confirmed the life altering results of what began as a quiet country drive in October of 2024...

Despite the driver of the lumber truck testing negative for alcohol and controlled substances, his actions or inaction's, led to his indictment.

About two weeks ago, Holloway filed a guilty plea in a Rutherford County Courtroom...  He will be back in court for a sentencing hearing on November 30, 2026...

Under the guilty plea filed before Rutherford County Circuit Court Judge Barry Tidwell on August 20, 2026, Holloway admitted guilt to one count of Vehicular Homicide by Reckless Action and two counts of Reckless Aggravated Assault. Remaining charges from his original indictment were dismissed.

The small child was survived by his mother, Nevaeh Payne, and his father, Deqwaun White, who were both in the car with him when the incident occurred. He is also survived by his sister and several other family members.
