MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) promoted Public Information Officer Laura Kunce to the rank of Sergeant. Sgt. Kunce will continue serving in her current capacity as Public Information Officer, managing communications between the agency, news media, and Rutherford County residents.

Sgt. Kunce started her law enforcement career with the Smyrna Police Department (SPD) in 2017. She joined RCSO in 2020 and has served in multiple divisions across the agency, including Patrol, the School Resource Officer division, and as a Community Engagement Deputy.

In 2022, Sgt. Kunce helped build a stronger recruiting strategy and platform for RCSO. Her efforts expanded agency outreach to attract qualified candidates and highlight employment opportunities within the department.

In 2025, Sgt. Kunce earned her Master Public Information Officer certification through the University of Tennessee Law Enforcement Innovation Center. In her continued role as Public Information Officer, Sgt. Kunce serves as the vital link between RCSO, the press, and the local community to keep the public informed.
