RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WGNS) - Extreme heat and rising humidity will push temperature feels like readings well into the triple digits across Rutherford County this week.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Nashville issued a Heat Advisory for counties west of the Cumberland Plateau through Tuesday (September 15th) with peak heat index values ranging between 105 and 109 degrees across the area.

In Murfreesboro and throughout Rutherford County, Monday (September 14th) starts the week with a heat index reaching 101 degrees before peaking at 105 degrees on Tuesday (September 15th). The intense heat lingers through the rest of the week, with forecast heat index values expected to reach 104 degrees on Wednesday (September 16th), 102 degrees on Thursday (September 17th), 100 degrees on Friday (September 18th), and 96 degrees on Saturday (September 19th). Overnight lows offer little relief, staying between 65 and 75 degrees.

Weather officials advise residents to drink plenty of water, seek air-conditioned environments during the hottest parts of the day, and reduce strenuous outdoor activities between 10 AM and 6 PM.
