SMYRNA, Tenn. (WGNS) - Smyrna Police Department (SPD) officers are searching for a gunman following a targeted weekend shooting on Snowbird Drive.

The incident occurred on Saturday (September 12th) at approximately 6:17 p.m. Detectives say an unidentified suspect shot a resident as the victim opened the front door of his home. Investigators describe the shooter as a slender male. At this time, detectives are working to determine if the gunman acted alone or if a getaway driver assisted in the crime. SPD officers confirm the shooting appears to be a targeted event rather than a random act.

Following the shooting, the suspect likely fled north along Florence Road at a high rate of speed away from the scene. SPD investigators are actively working with neighbors and witnesses to identify any potential suspect vehicles and track down those responsible.
