SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WGNS News) - A man with a lengthy record of crimes involving sexual abuse and children has been sentenced to spend the next 25 years in prison. Barry Neal Creque, who worked in Lebanon, was found guilty in Sumner County on one count of sexual exploitation of a minor (over 100 images) and nine counts of sexual exploitation of a minor (less than 50 images). The images were found on Creque's phone.

The 54-year-old evidently decided to relocate, and when he went to fill out the required sex offender registration at the Sumner County Sheriff's Office, Detective Eric Poulin confronted him about social media accounts that he believed belonged to Creque. Sex offenders are not allowed to access social media, but Creque apparently had social media accounts on his cellphone. Reports from the Sumner County District Attorney indicate images of children were found on his phone. The explicit photos and videos added up to more than 100.

DA Thomas Dean wrote in an online post, “All of the material on Creque's phone featured victims who were unknown to him, indicating the material was likely obtained from online sources. Creque, who was placed on the sexual offender registry in 2018 following a Davidson County conviction for sexual exploitation of a minor, has been in jail since Det. Poulin arrested him.” His arrest for the images took place earlier this year in February, and after his conviction, he was sentenced to spend the next 25 years behind bars. The sentencing hearing took place about four weeks ago.

Judge Jennifer Nichols ordered him to serve 25 years in prison without the possibility of probation, parole, or any form of early release. Creque will be almost 80 years old by the time his sentence is completed.
