La VERGNE, TN (WGNS) - What started as a simple Flock camera notification in La Vergne quickly turned into a much bigger case. Officers were alerted Friday (9/18/2026) to a stolen license plate on a motorcycle riding in the bed of a pickup truck. When they caught up with the vehicle, they discovered the pickup itself was also displaying a stolen plate. That was enough to initiate a traffic stop, but the investigation didn’t stop there.

As officers dug deeper, they uncovered far more than stolen tags. Inside the truck, investigators found roughly 51 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm. The driver, who officers later confirmed is a convicted felon, was prohibited from possessing a gun under Tennessee law. The discovery meant officers had not only recovered stolen property but also removed a significant amount of illegal drugs and a firearm from someone who legally shouldn’t have one.

La Vergne Police praised the officers involved, noting that their alertness and willingness to follow up on the initial stolen‑plate notification made the difference. What began as a routine technology alert ultimately led to a major recovery and an arrest.

The driver now faces a long list of charges, including Theft Under $1,000, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Manufacture/Delivery/Sale/Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Firearm with Intent to Go Armed During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, and Driving While License Revoked, 2nd or Subsequent Offense.

Police say this case is another example of how technology, officer awareness, and proactive policing work hand‑in‑hand to identify criminal activity and keep illegal drugs and firearms out of the community.
