MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - The Boys & Girls Clubs of Rutherford County is celebrating 40 years of service to local children and families.

Since opening in 1986, the organization has provided a safe environment where thousands of young people build academic skills, develop healthy habits, and explore future career paths.

To mark the milestone, the club is hosting a 40th Anniversary Celebration on Thursday (September 24th) at 7:30 a.m. The morning event takes place at the club facility, located at 820 Jones Boulevard in Murfreesboro. Community leaders, sponsors, former board members, staff, and club alumni will gather for breakfast and coffee to reflect on four decades of community impact.

“For 40 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rutherford County has been a place where young people have found encouragement, opportunity and a sense of belonging,” said Sheryl Chesnutt, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rutherford County. “This anniversary is not just about looking back at where we have been. It is about celebrating the thousands of young people whose lives have been touched by the Club and recognizing the community of supporters who have made our work possible. We are incredibly grateful for everyone who has been part of our story, and we look forward to continuing to make an impact for generations to come.”

The theme for the celebration is “You're Part of Our Story,” highlighting the volunteers, donors, parents, and partners who have supported the organization over the years. As the club enters its fifth decade, leaders remain focused on character development, workforce readiness, and helping Rutherford County youth reach their full potential.
