MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - Middle Tennessee State University Police Department officers arrest student Luca Sherrard following an assault on a pro-life activist outside the Keathley University Center, according to reporting by MTSU Sidelines.

An MTSU PD officer responded to the report of an assault on Wednesday (September 16th) at 1:55 p.m. in the center knoll area outside the center. Witnesses and the victim described an interaction between a Students for Life of America (SFL) activist and Sherrard. SFLA is a national pro-life advocacy organization that seeks to recruit, train, and mobilize high school and college students to oppose abortion.

A bystander captured the incident on video, showing the two parties conversing before Sherrard threw a plastic cup containing liquid at the activist.

The responding MTSU PD officer reviewed the video footage and located Sherrard, a graphic design major, inside the John Bragg Media and Entertainment Building. Officers arrested Sherrard, who was then transported to the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office (RCSO) for booking.
