MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - Main Street Murfreesboro is holding its free Friday Night Live concert on the east side of the Historic Downtown Public Square on Friday (September 25th).

The event starts at 6:30 p.m. with a performance by Mixtape, an 80s tribute party band based in Middle Tennessee. The band will play dance hits until 9:30 p.m.

Organizers scheduled the show following weather disruptions earlier in the season. Main Street Murfreesboro canceled the Friday, August 7th, concert due to lightning and rainstorms. To make up for lost time, organizers added another concert to the schedule on Friday, October 16th. That show will feature Matthias Lamparter performing classic rock and country hits alongside a full horn backup section.

For Friday's event, the Murfreesboro Public Square will close to all vehicle traffic starting at 5:00 p.m. Drivers must clear their vehicles from the square prior to 5:00 p.m. Local streets will reopen at 9:30 p.m.

The concert stage will be located on the east side of the Historic Rutherford County Courthouse. Lawn chair seating is permitted along Church Street, East Main Street, and surrounding the courthouse area. Porta-potties will be set up in the old Bank of America parking lot off East Main Street.

Visitors can park for free in both the city and county parking garages, as well as public parking lots around the square. Organizers encourage community members to arrive early to shop with local merchants and dine at downtown restaurants before the music starts.
