MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department crews responded to Haynes Manor Apartments on West Northfield Boulevard Friday morning after a caller reported heavy smoke coming from apartments within the complex.

When firefighters arrived, crews began investigating and located a fire inside a first-floor apartment in Building M. Firefighters quickly began suppression efforts and were able to bring the blaze under control before it could cause more extensive damage throughout the building. Scroll down for photos. 

MFRD crews searched the apartment where the fire originated and confirmed no one was inside at the time. Residents in the remaining apartments were evacuated as firefighters searched and checked the building for additional hazards. No injuries were reported. Scroll down for more photos.

Several apartments sustained smoke damage and required ventilation following the fire. The American Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance to residents whose apartments could not be occupied following the incident.

The Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department Fire Marshal's Office responded to the scene and was investigating the cause of the fire. No additional information regarding what may have sparked the blaze was immediately released.

A large number of MFRD resources responded to the apartment complex, totaling 15 fire and emergency response vehicles. Units responding to the fire included L6, L1, E7, E3, E9, L2, R11, E5, BC1, BC2, S1, S2, R1, CAR 143 and CAR 138.
