Kansas Runs Wild in 55–0 Rout over MTSU

LAWRENCE, KA (WGNS) - You heard it on WGNS — every snap, every stumble, every hard lesson. Saturday in Lawrence was one of those nights Middle Tennessee State will want to file away quickly. Kansas, hungry to snap a two‑game skid, dominated from the opening whistle and handed the Blue Raiders their first shutout loss since 2020, a 55–0 thumping that showed just how unforgiving Big 12 country can be.

JAYHAWKS CONTROL THE TRENCHES Kansas owned the line of scrimmage in a way that felt old‑fashioned — and overwhelming. The Jayhawks piled up 706 yards of offense, including a staggering 480 on the ground. Dylan Edwards was the headliner, slicing through the MTSU defense for 137 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Isaiah Marshall wasn’t far behind, rushing for 110 yards and throwing for 161 more. Both were on the sideline well before the fourth quarter even began.

By halftime, Kansas had outgained MTSU 281–50 and led 20–0. The Blue Raiders never found a spark. Two plays all night gained more than 15 yards, and both came long after the game’s tone had been set.

BLUE RAIDERS SEARCH FOR ANSWERS Roman Gagliano battled but finished just 9‑for‑26 for 80 yards, with nearly half of that coming on a single fourth‑quarter completion. Antonio Martin Jr. had one bright moment — a 34‑yard burst late in the third — but lost a fumble on the very next play. Kansas’ defense smothered everything MTSU tried, holding the Raiders to seven first downs and barely three yards per snap.

Even Kansas’ mistakes didn’t matter much. Six penalties in the first half were the Jayhawks’ only blemish in an otherwise spotless performance.

LOOKING AHEAD TO CONFERENCE PLAY The loss drops Middle Tennessee to 2‑3 as non‑conference play wraps up. Now comes the reset — and a return home. Delaware visits Johnny “Red” Floyd Stadium on Oct. 13 as Conference USA action resumes.

And yes, WGNS will carry that gridiron clash live on every channel, just like we’ve done for decades.
