NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett (pictured above) is reminding eligible Tennesseans that the deadline to register to vote is Monday, Oct. 5, for the Nov. 3, 2026, State and Federal General Election. Eligible citizens must submit their voter registration applications by 11:59 p.m. Monday to be eligible to vote in the upcoming election.

"Registering to vote is the first step in making your voice heard," said Secretary Hargett. "This November's ballot includes important federal, state, and local races, as well as three proposed constitutional amendments. We encourage every eligible Tennessean who has not yet registered to take advantage of the simple and secure tools available through GoVoteTN and complete their registration before tonight's deadline."

The fastest way for eligible Tennesseans to register to vote, update an existing registration or check their voter registration status is through the free GoVoteTN app or online at GoVoteTN.gov. Eligible Tennesseans who are not registered by the Oct. 5 deadline will not be able to vote in the Nov. 3 State and Federal General Election.

Tennessee voters are also encouraged to review the three proposed constitutional amendments that will appear on the Nov. 3 ballot before arriving at their polling place. Each amendment will appear as a separate yes-or-no question. Reviewing the proposals in advance can help voters make informed decisions and be prepared to cast their ballots efficiently. Information about the amendments is available through the Tennessee Secretary of State's website.

Early voting for the Nov. 3 State and Federal General Election begins Wednesday, Oct. 14, and continues through Thursday, Oct. 29.

Additional information about voter registration, polling locations, sample ballots, election dates and voting requirements is available at GoVoteTN.gov or through the free GoVoteTN app.
