MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - State Rep. Tim Rudd (R-Murfreesboro) is bringing attention to Tennessee's position at the top of national election integrity rankings.
The Heritage Foundation Election Integrity Scorecard evaluates states across more than 50 best practices in 15 operational categories. These metrics include voter registration list maintenance, voter identification standards, absentee ballot management, election audits, observer access, and restrictions on ballot trafficking. Tennessee earned top marks for its voter identification rules and scored highly for its safeguards surrounding absentee voting and voter roll accuracy.
"The General Assembly has made election integrity a priority by adopting common-sense safeguards that protect every eligible voter's ballot and maintain public confidence in our elections," said Rudd. "This recognition confirms that Tennessee continues to set the national standard for secure and trustworthy elections. I remain committed to improving our election system for the benefit and future of all Tennesseans."
Rudd, who represents District 34 in the Tennessee House of Representatives covering parts of Rutherford County, has served as chairman of the House Election and Campaign Finance Subcommittee since 2019. In that role, he has helped advance state legislation aimed at strengthening election administration laws.
Rudd also recognized state election leaders for their ongoing operational oversight across all 95 counties.
"Secretary of State Tre Hargett and State Coordinator of Elections Mark Goins have worked tirelessly on behalf of every Tennessean to protect the integrity of our elections," Rudd stated.
