MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - The Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity ReStore is preparing for a major expansion as it moves into a new location at Mercury Plaza early next year.
ReStore Manager Tina Busey confirmed the new facility will triple the total size of the operations. The layout will specifically double the square footage of the retail showroom floor, allowing the nonprofit store to feature a much larger inventory of donated home goods, furniture, appliances, and surplus building supplies.
While retail operations transition to Mercury Plaza, administrative offices for the Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity will remain at their current building at 850 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard location - formerly known as Mercury Boulevard - currently houses both administrative personnel and the existing store operations.
The ReStore serves as a vital financial engine for Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity. Revenue generated from the retail store helps cover the affiliate's administrative and operational costs. That model ensures that direct financial donations made to the local Habitat chapter go straight toward constructing affordable housing for local families in need.
Shoppers and donors can learn more about accepting donations, volunteering, or homeownership partnership hours by visiting the official https://www.rchfh.org/restore/ website. The current store at 850 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard will continue operations until the move takes place at the start of the year.
