MT. JULIET, TN (WGNS) - A routine Saturday night patrol in Mt. Juliet turned into a sizable theft recovery after an officer spotted a familiar face walking into Academy Sports. Police say the 39‑year‑old Nashville woman has seven prior felony convictions tied to organized retail theft, and she had previously been arrested for shoplifting at that same Academy location. That recognition prompted officers to keep a close eye on her.

Shortly after she left the store, officers stopped her vehicle for multiple traffic violations. They also noted behavior that raised suspicions of additional criminal activity. During the investigation, officers determined she had taken about $275 worth of merchandise from Academy Sports and concealed it in her purse. She was charged with shoplifting and possession of burglary tools.

The stop didn’t end there. Officers searched the vehicle and discovered more than $1,000 worth of additional suspected stolen clothing. Police believe the items came from retailers in the Nashville area. All merchandise was recovered, and Mt. Juliet officers are now working to identify the businesses involved so the items can be returned.
