MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - Local first responders are teaming up to offer Rutherford County families a safe Halloween celebration paired with vital road safety guidance.

The Rutherford County Traffic Safety Task Force hosts its free, drive-through Trunk or Treat event on Tuesday (October 27th). Festivities begin at 5 p.m. on Samsonite Boulevard near the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Driver Services Center in Murfreesboro.

Children and their families will drive through the setup to meet first responders from multiple public safety agencies who will hand out candy. At the same time, parents and caregivers will receive traffic safety materials and resources focused on preventing crashes and keeping motorists secure on area roadways.

Organizers designed the drive-through to blend traditional holiday fun with community outreach, giving youth an opportunity to interact positively with local emergency personnel. The event is free, fully open to the public, and requires no advance registration.
