Vegetable Garden at Rutherford County Jail Helps Offset Food Costs

A vegetable garden in front of the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center is helping to offset cost in the local jail, according to Sheriff Robert Arnold.

The Sheriff’s Office calls their garden the “Gardens of Hope.” The vegetables grown in the garden are put back into “Food Services” at the facility on the New Salem Highway.

Current Breakdown (As of July 16, 2013)

Corn:                 270-lbs
Cucumbers:        150-lbs
Squash:             52-lbs
Green beans:      149-lbs
Peppers:            67-lbs
