Record Attendance

The Community of Faith luncheon to benefit the Pastoral Counseling Center of Murfreesboro was held Thursday (8/15/2013) at First United Methodist Church. Director of Development Michelle Burks applauded everyone for a record attendance at this year's event.

Wholeness of Body and Spirit

Center Coordinator Karen Potratz explained that this is a full counseling service that is supported by eight local congregations.

She told WGNS News about some of the more frequently used counseling services used locally . . .

She noted that fees were based on a sliding scale that was tied to income and number of persons in a family.

The Murfreesboro coordinator said the local service is clinically based, with counselors trained in a variety of behavioral sciences and therapies, but they frequently also have a seminary degree.

Silent Auction

the silent auction was a very popular part of the mid-day gathering. Everything from artwork, cuissine, get away trips and more were offered to the highest bidder.

Supporting Congregations

The churches that sponsor the Pastoral Counseling Center of Murfreesboro include:  Central Christian Church, First Baptist Church, First Presbyterian, First United Methodist, St. Mark's Methodist, First Baptist on East Castle, St. Paul's Episcopal and Trinity United Methodist. First Baptist host the counseling center's offices at their facility on the corner of East Main and Spring Streets. First Methodist was the lunceon host.
