The average unemployment rate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Tennessee is 83%. Tennessee Works and the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center told WGNS they are working to lower that number.

Employers often describe their employees with disabilities as being more dedicated, dependable, hardworking, and productive than their employees without disabilities.

Tennessee Works is hosting a Community Conversation in Murfreesboro to brainstorm with people about increasing integrated employment opportunities, helping people with disabilities find and keep jobs, and working together to effect meaningful change. 

The Community Conversation will be at the Carriage Lane Inn in downtown Murfreesboro on Monday, August 26th. The event is free, but they are asking that guest register online (below).
