Tuesday Morning Hazmat Call On Lascassas Pike

Aug 27, 2013 at 02:32 pm by Bryan Barrett

Motorists traveling past 2712 Highway 96 around 11:30 Tuesday morning, may have wondered why all of the emergency vehicles were at Lascassas Market.

A tanker from Usher Transport had a spill while filling underground storage tanks.

Rutherford Emergency Management Assistant Director Tim Hooker told WGNS News that the problem was the result of a faulty hose and approximately 100 gallons of fuel was spilled.

A licensed hazmat clean-up company was called to remove the petroleum product from the area.

Units from Lascassas Volunteer Fire Department, Rutherford Emergency Management and Rutherford County Rescue were on-the-scene.

There were no injuries and business quickly returned to normal.

Special thanks to the Lascassas Volunteer Fire Department for the photos
