The Rutherford County Election Commission told WGNS that September 24th is National Voter Registration Day. The day is the high point of National Voter Registration Month, a time when state and county election officials have been working to encourage voter participation and increase awareness of state requirements and deadlines for voting.
On September 24th, county elections officials are inviting the public to be a part of a casual Open House event at the election commission office. They will be serving cookies and lemonade and will be open to process registrations and changes of address. The event will be from 8am until 4:30pm at the office on the Murfreesboro square located at 1 South Public Square, Suite 103.
“National Voter Registration Day is a great time to make sure that your registration is up to date or to register for the first time,” said Rutherford County Administrator of Elections Nicole Lester. “We are ready to help you in any way we can at any time.”
