(Above photo: L-R)  WGNS' Bart Walker and former State Representative John Hood create large ceramic bowls to be sold at the November 2nd Cook'n To Build on the east side of the courthouse. In addition to the smaller bowls that are filled with soup, this year larger creations will be made by community leaders and sold during the fun event.

Area residents are encouraged to drop-in at The Pottery Place in the Avenue of Murfreesboro to create a bowl in which soup will be sold at the Sixth Annual Habitat for Humanity Cook'n To Build on Saturday, November 2nd. The event will be held on the east side of the Rutherford County Courthouse.

Paint A Bowl Now Through October 31st

It only costs $5 to let your creative juices flow as you decorate a bowl that will be donated to the cause. Head over to The Pottery Place near Michael's in The Avenue of Murfreesboro. Bo Master will show you how to create a beautiful bowl, just call him at 615-893-5556.

Then on November 2nd, make a $5 donation to Habitat for Humanity, select a hand created bowl and fill it with delicious soup or chili. You enjoy the soup and keep the bowl as well.

There will also be live music and other fun activities to enjoy on the Murfreesboro square from 11:30 that Saturday morning until 1:00 in the afternoon (11/2/2013).

Local Art Sold As Well

In addition to the soups, during this year's Cook'n To Build, you will also have an opportunity to purchase larger bowls that have been created by local community leaders (see above photo).

Rutherford County's Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Beth Smith told WGNS News that 116 homes have been built locally since 1989.

"This fun event on November 2nd will help create a better life for local families."
