This week's ROAD REPORT from Ram!

Fall is definitely here, and a sprinkling of below freezing nights gives us a feel of winter. City Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran warns construction crews are gearing-up to finish projects before that time, and this may create traffic challenges in some areas. Here are Ram's warnings through November 9th.

City Construction Projects

Joe B Jackson Pkwy Construction Project (I-24 and S Church Street)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm:  Storm drain, underground utility, curb and bridge construction work continues on Joe B Jackson Pkwy on the east side (Stevens Bend Subdivision) between County Farm Road and Butler Drive/Elam Road.  The section of Joe B Jackson between County Farm and Stevens Bend Drive will be closed.  Atmos Energy will be installing gas lines from County Farm Road east through the Stevens Bend Subdivision and service lines west to S. Church Street.  On Monday, November 4, the intersection of County Farm Road and Joe B Jackson will be closed between 8:30 am and 3:00 pm for a utility road crossing.  Appropriate detours and traffic controls will be in place.

Overall Creek Elementary School Roadway Project (Veterans Pkwy at Mooreland Lane)

Expected Road Closures:  September 3rd 2013 through June 21st 2014:  Mooreland Lane at Veterans Pkwy closed in preparation for the new roadway construction and utility work.  All traffic to and from Veterans Pkwy and Mooreland Lane will be detoured through State Route 96 and Rucker Lane.  Proper traffic controls will be in place.

The Pointe at Eastdale Development (Bradyville Pike near S Rutherford Blvd)

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday:  8:30 am to 2:30 pm:  The contractor for a private development will be constructing turn lanes at the new entrance driveway on Bradyville Pike near S Rutherford Blvd.  There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Murfreesboro Water & Sewer Department Project (Woodland St)

Expected No Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday:  8:00 am to 3:00 pm:  The contractor for the Water and Sewer Department will be installing water lines on Woodland St.  There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Traffic Signal Work (Memorial Blvd at Clark Blvd)

Expected Lane Closures:  Sunday, November 3:  8:30 pm to 1:00 am:  City Traffic Signal contractor will be re-installing loop sensors at the intersection of Memorial Blvd and Clark Blvd (southbound left turn lanes).  .  There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions on the southbound lanes.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.  Northbound traffic will not be affected.

Annual City Street Paving Project

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM:  City milling, paving, striping and casting crews will be working on the following streets and subdivisions:  Expect lane shifts and traffic interruptions during these operations.
