Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Director Lanny Goodwin tells how they received several suitable site proposals for a 250-300 acre park to be located in the Blackman area of Murfreesboro. He noted that these proposals are being studied, and a decision will be made on the one that best serves the needs of the community. That must go through several committees and finally get the green light from the city council. He estimated that it could be 3 to 5-years from today when the public can actually enjoy this new facility.
Goodwin noted that the new park should have areas for girl's and adult softball, as well as for youth football. In addition, it should have 25 to 30 per cent of the acerage devoted to multi-purpose use.
When asked if there will be an indoor complex similar to SportsCom and Patterson Center, the director noted that would be determined through public feedback as well as population studies for the area.
