Gene and Shirley Staats are always helping neighbors, those in need—they are a caring and helping couple.  In addition, they are both members of the Lion’s Club. This husband and wife team volunteers their time and skills to travel across the mid-state and do eye screening for one to six-year old children.  Over the years, there’s no telling how many youngsters the Staats have saved from blindness or other sight impairments.
