Preventing fatalities and crashes will be the goal of officers at a sobriety checkpoint Friday night from 10:00 to midnight near Rockvale Elementary School on state Route 99 in Rockvale.

Rutherford County Sheriff's Lieutenant Joe Gray said that drivers will be checked to determine if they drank alcohol and drove. The sobriety checkpoint is part of the Governor’s Highway Safety Office’s enforcement campaign of Booze It or Lose It
Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers and Smyrna, La Vergne and Eagleville Police are invited to participate. Officers will try to reduce the amount of traffic fatalities and injuries by keeping drinking drivers off the roads.
This project is funded under an agreement with the State of Tennessee’s Governor’s Highway Safety Office.
