A third Movie Theater in Rutherford County, is it possible?

A Carmike BIG D movie theater may open a location in the Avenue Shopping Complex in Murfreesboro. The idea was proposed before the Murfreesboro Planning Commission. The group behind the idea will follow up with the Planning Commission again on February 19th in the City Hall. If the plan is approved and if the developers move forward with the venture, they will construct the 9-screen cinema behind Peter D’s Restaurant that is currently under construction.

So what exactly is a “Big D” Theater?

Other “Big D” theaters feature larger screens. For example, the Big D Theater in Myrtle Beach features a floor to ceiling movie screen that is 82-feet wide and over 30-feet high. The movie theater also shows digital 2-D and 3-D movies.
