The driver who struck a pedestrian on Harding Place at the Interstate 24 East entrance ramp Wednesday night is charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication and an implied consent violation.
Charles James Farris II, 40, of Murfreesboro, was driving his 2000 Toyota Corolla onto the entrance ramp at 11 p.m. when he struck Carlton Pitts, 59, of 380 Harding Place. Pitts, who had been in a crosswalk, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.
There was no evidence at the scene to indicate alcohol involvement on the part of Pitts.
Farris is being held in lieu of $150,000 bond.
