What was probably the worst kept secret around high school football is now official. Oakland will play at Blackman on Sunday, August 24th nationally on ESPN2 at 11am. The two teams were to play Week 9 of the football season instead of Week 0, but that was changed after ESPN showed interest in broadcasting the game. That forces other changes for county teams as well. Siegel will play Riverdale in Week 0 instead of Blackman. Riverdale was to play Oakland. Now that game will be in Week 9 along with Siegel at Blackman. Both the Patriots and the Blaze are expected to be high atop the list of contenders for a state championship this year in Class 6A.
