UPDATE: One arrest made in Smyrna shooting that occurred this past weekend

We have more news on the late Saturday night shooting in Smyrna (09/06/14).

According to the Smyrna Police Department, a 9-1-1 call came in at about 11:40 PM, Saturday. The call was concerning shots fired at a residence on Rock Springs Rd. Upon arrival police found two adult males that had gunshot wounds. They were both taken to StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna and then to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville by life flight Helicopter.

Police later learned that the residents were having a birthday party for a family member when the shooting took place. During the birthday party, two uninvited men walked up to the residence and an altercation ensued. The two suspects then pulled out handguns and began firing. After shooting the victims, the two suspects fled on foot. One of the suspects was taken into custody a short time later at Colony Square Apartments. He was identified as 18 year old Larry Orozco of LaVergne Tn. He is currently being held at the Rutherford County Jail on $500,000 bond for two counts of Attempted Criminal Homicide.

The Smyrna Police are still attempting to locate the 2nd suspect at this time. Smyrna Police ask that anyone with information about this case contact Detective Robert Monroe at 615-267-5455.
