City Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran knows that this is the time of year that crews are trying to wrap-up jobs before cold weather hits. As a result there are more traffic tie-ups created by road work now than any other season. Here are areas to avoid today through October 11th.

City Construction Projects

Joe B Jackson Pkwy Construction Project (I-24 and S Church Street)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm: Curbing and concrete drive work continues along Joe B Jackson Pkwy between Stevens Bend Road and S Church Street. Contractor will be placing asphalt final surface on the east side of the bridge and asphalt binder course between Stevens Bend Subdivision and S Church St. There will be incidental lane closures traffic interruptions for stone and concrete deliveries between 7 am and 8 am. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Veterans Pkwy aka Kimbro Road Widening Project (Barfield Road to Saint Andrews Drive)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: 6:30 am to 4:30 pm: Utility installations, storm drain, fill material work continues on Veterans Pkwy. There will be incidental lane closures and traffic interruptions (trucks entering and exiting the job site). Traffic on Veterans will be shifted to the south side. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 5:00 am: There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street, Ridgley Road and W College Street for underground utility crossing. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. Broadmor Blvd is closed to traffic at Memorial Blvd for utility crossing construction work. Broadmor Blvd can still be accessed from NW Broad Street. W Lytle Street is also closed to traffic at NW Broad Street for construction work. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Kings Ridge Drive Water Line Tie-in Work

Expected Lane Closures: Wednesday & Thursday, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm: Contractor for a private development will be installing a water line across Kings Ridge Drive just west of Memorial Blvd. Kings Ridge Drive will be reduced to one lane near the work area with flagging operation. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

New Walmart Project (S Church Street at Joe B Jackson Pkwy)

Expected Lane Closures: Wednesday through Saturday: Contractor for Walmart will be making roadway improvements (adding turn lanes and traffic signals) on S Church Street at Joe B Jackson Pkwy. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Murfreesboro Electric Department Fiber Project (Old Salem Rd, Battle Ave & Bridge Ave)

Expected Lane Closures: Thursday, 9:00am - 3:00 pm: Contractor for Murfreesboro Electric Department will be installing overhead fiber optic lines on Old Salem Road, Battle Ave and Bridge Ave. Work will begin at Old Salem Road and end at Bridge Ave. There will be moving lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Murfreesboro Electric Department Fiber Project (College St between Spring St and Front St)

Expected Lane Closures: Friday, 9:00am - 3:00 pm: Contractor for Murfreesboro Electric Department will be installing overhead fiber optic lines on College St between Spring St and Front St. There will be moving lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

XO Communication Fiber Project (College St between Spring St and Highland Ave)

Expected Lane Closures: Wednesday through Friday, 9:00am - 3:00 pm: Contractor for XO Communications will be installing underground fiber optic lines on College St between Spring St and Maney Ave. There will be partial lane closures and traffic interruptions. Directional drilling equipment will be setup at the on College St near Spring St. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Annual City Street Paving Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM: City casting, milling, paving crews will be working on the following streets: Expect lane shifts and traffic interruptions.
