West View Park Updated, Renamed "Gladys Blanton Park"

Renovations to the city's previously named West View Mini-Park, located on February Street in Murfreesboro, are taking shape. In August, the City began construction on the 1.4-acre park, located in the Franklin Heights-January Street area. A small playground, a bike/tricycle/walking path and landscaping were added. The project is funded through a Local Parks and Recreation Fund (LPRF) grant provided by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.

The Murfreesboro City Council voted in July to rename the park Gladys Blanton Park. Robert Rickman, WGNS news.

The Council matched the $75,000 awarded by the Tennessee Department of Environmental and Conservation, which brings the total funding for the project is $150,000. First Place Finish, Inc. was contracted to perform the work
