Middle Tennessee baseball has added junior college transfer Jonathan Sisco for the 2012 season, head coach Steve Peterson announced on Friday. Sisco, a Murfreesboro native, returns to his hometown after a one-year stint at Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin, Tenn.

"Jonathan will help us immediately in the pitching rotation and with power in the lineup after losing Will Skinner," Peterson said. "He has progressed just like we thought he would and at both junior colleges, coaches did an outstanding job developing Jonathan both on and off the field. He has done what he needs to succeed at the Division I level."

During his time at Vol State, Sisco appeared in 40 games, splitting time between pitcher and first base. He held a 2.98 ERA through 60.1 innings of work while hitting .360 with 32 RBI. Prior to attending Vol State, Sisco spent one year at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Ala.

A 2009 graduate of Blackman High School, Sisco was a prep standout on the diamond. He was named the Daily News Journal Player of the Year following his senior campaign and earned first-team all-state honors. The 6-3 junior also was a two-time Blackman offensive MVP and was tabbed as the pitching MVP by his teammates in 2009.
