A 26-year old Murfreesboro woman has been arrested on child abuse charges and her five-year old son was placed in protective custody. Murfreesboro Police report the woman, who is not being identified to protect the child, was jailed after allegedly beating the child over the July 4th weekend. The child's grandmother took him to the emergency room after he had trouble using the restroom and she saw bruises on him. Detective Tommy Roberts reported the mother admitted during an interview to hitting the child for at least five minutes. The mother of the child was booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on 30-thousand dollars bond and will be in court September 8th.
