A 5th suspect has been arrested in connection with the recent shooting next to the basketball court near Oaklands Mansion in Murfreesboro.

On October 29th, 25-Year old Darryl Rouse was shot once in the face with a .22 caliber rifle. The shooting was reported by the Oaklands Mansion Courtesy Officer who heard the shot being fired. The Courtesy Officer happened to be an off duty Rutherford County Sheriff Deputy. Deputy Buselmeier noticed two black males running after hearing the shot as he was notifying the police.

Murfreesboro Police Sgt. Kyle Evans told NewsRadio WGNS that the incident allegedly started with an altercation near the basketball court close to Oaklands Mansion. The victim was flown by Life Flight Helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center shortly after he was shot.

The most recent arrest was that of 18-Year old Kourtland Johnson.The suspect met with police on Monday afternoon at First Baptist Church on East Castle Street and turned himself in. According to the arrest report, the young man was accompanied by a local role model and leader who told police that Johnson wanted to do the right thing and that he also needed prayer. As a result, Johnson was quietly taken to the local jail where he was officially booked in and charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, Especially Aggravated Robbery and Criminal Conspiracy. He was placed under an $800-thousand bond.

Previously arrested were 20-year old twins Devonte Lawrence and Deante Lawrence of Nashville, 19-year old Lamonte Johnson of Murfreesboro, and 18-year old Walshaude Vaughter of Murfreesboro. All four men face Escecially Aggravated Robbery Charges. Vaughter also faces a charge of Attempted First Degree Murder.
