Grenade Found Tuesday Afternoon In Murfreesboro

Nov 25, 2014 at 08:04 pm by Bryan Barrett

A hand-grenade found in a Murfreesboro yard Tuesday afternoon was deemed safe to transport by the THP bomb squad.

Around 1:30 Tuesday afternoon Murfreesboro Police Sergeant Mark Wood and his explosive detecting K-9 Boomer rushed to 2930 Meadowhill Drive. What appeared to be a hand-grenade was discovered near a creek. Meadowhill Drive is just off Compton Road, and about halfway between Lascassas Pike and Lebanon Pike.

When officials determined the grenade was likely real, the Tennessee Highway Patrol was also called. The state's bomb squad very carefully packed the device, and transported it to their headquarter for disposal.
