An unknown man who found a wallet left unattended at the Walmart gas station off of Rutherford Boulevard took some change for himself before turning the ladies wallet in. A Murfreesboro Police report details what occurred on Tuesday morning...
Evidently the victim left her wallet sitting on top of a gas pump and a man driving a white Chevrolet truck could be seen in a surveillance video grabbing the wallet. The man then filled his gas tank, entered the store to pay for his fuel and turned in the wallet. The only problem is that the wallet was short some $200.
The 18-year old victim later returned to the gas station to see if anyone turned in her wallet. To her surprise they did. But, also to her surprise, she discovered the money missing and then called the police.
UPDATE: Reports indicate the local woman who had her money stolen was recently homeless and has just recently gotten back on her feet with a new job. We were told that the money she had stolen was to go towards her rent, which she can not afford to lose. That being said, a local non profit known as Club YES has decided to raise the funds to give her the money to pay the rent. In other words, Club YES wants to help her this week and needs your donation to help this young lady out who is on a positive path to a better life.
At this point, an arrest has not been made, but police do have the video of the suspect.
