A man convicted of murder in Murfreesboro has asked the courts for a new trial. Antonio Alexander shot and killed Nadar Bahmanziari, the O'Charley's manager at the Memorial Boulevard location in 2008.

Alexander evidently shot the O'Charley's manager as he was sitting in his office after two of his employees ran into the room to get away from the gunman.

After Bahmanziari was shot, employee Michael Dorton dragged his body into a closet in an attempt to keep him safe until help arrived. Dorton even locked the door. Another employee in the restaurant then opened the door to the office and allowed for Alexander to take whatever cash had been made earlier in the evening. The suspect then fled the scene with the cash in hand.

About a day later, Alexander was arrested at International Paper where he was employed. He was eventually convicted for the murder of Bahmanziari and sentenced to life in prison.

Alexander now contends that his right to due process was violated when the trial court failed to sequester the tentatively selected jury prior to the beginning of the trial. The man also claims that he received ineffective assistance of counsel. Judge Timothy L. Easter did not agree and backed the post-conviction court. In other words, Alexander will remain in prison until he dies.
